Dolphins Grab Gold Trophy as League Meets Conclude

Sun, Jul 17, 2011 12:21 pm | Updated Thu, Aug 4, 2011 8:03 am
The League meet schedule of the Colonial Swimming League's 50th season concluded today under beautiful skies, as the last of the four Division champions was crowned.  Homestanding Sugarland Run won their showdown with the previously unbeaten Arlington Knights of Columbus, winning 236 to 201 to take the Gold Division crown.  The Dolphins led from wire-to-wire at this meet, but never by very much until they pulled away late during the relays.

And it was a good year for teams starting with the letter 'F', as Franklin Farm, Fort Myer, and Franklin Glen all completed perfect seasons and won the Red, White, and Blue Divisions, respectively.

It was also a good year for teams wearing plaid suits.

There was yet another League record set during the week.  This past Wednesday at Barrington, the Blue Fins' Brandon Fabian broke his own record time of 1:05.20 in the Boys 11-12 100Y Individual Medley, churning explosively to a time of 1:04.88.

Congratulations and way to go, Brandon!
